a creature of Nightmare, this beast functions in direct service to Kaz, ruler of the Realm. there are about a dozen or so of these crested beasts, created from threads of the darkest phantasms, woven from the same fabric which created Kaz's enormous riding beast. although sentient, their habits are mechanical in nature, telling of their inability to act on emotions or feelings. they are less than living.
as Kaz's sentries, they are also her runners. deft of claw and keen of sight, all creatures within Nightmare exist within tiers far below them and fear them above all other things. to see one of these beasts is an omen of death.
